Registering and checking your registration
To vote in Kentucky you must be a U.S. citizen and Kentucky resident, be at least 18 by the next general election, and be registered in the county where you live. Registration closes 28 days before each election.
Register or update your address online through the state's GoVoteKY portal. You can also mail a voter registration card to Kenton County Clerk, P.O. Box 1109, Covington, KY 41011. The Clerk's voter registration line is 859-392-1620.
Kentucky has closed primaries. To vote in a party's May primary, you must be registered as a Democrat or Republican. Party changes made between January 1 and the primary registration deadline don't count for that year's partisan primary.

Where Villa Hills votes on Election Day
According to the Clerk's 2026 General Election Day location list, the Villa Hills precinct (C319) votes at River Ridge Elementary, 2772 Amsterdam Road. Polls are open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In Kenton County you can vote at any polling location on Election Day if you use the ExpressVote touch screen. If you need a pre-printed paper ballot, you must go to your assigned location. Confirm your precinct name and code through GoVoteKY.

Early voting centers (Oct. 29–31, 2026)
Any Kenton County voter can use any of these centers. They are open 7:30 a.m.–4 p.m. on October 29, 30 and 31, and no excuse is needed. The closest to Villa Hills is likely Lakeside Christian Church on Buttermilk Pike.

Absentee voting
Mail-in absentee ballots are only for voters who qualify. Examples include voters who will be out of the county for all election day and early-voting hours, voters who can't get to the polls because of age, disability or illness, and participants in the state's address confidentiality program. Your request must be received 14 days before the election.
Request a ballot through the state portal or call the Clerk at 859-392-1620. Return completed ballots by mail or at drop boxes at the Kenton County Government Center (1840 Simon Kenton Way, Covington) or the Historic Kenton County Courthouse (5272 Madison Pike, Independence). The Postal Service recommends mailing completed ballots by October 27, 2026.
What ID to bring
Kentucky requires photo ID to vote in person. Accepted IDs include documents with your name and photo issued by the U.S. or Kentucky government, the military, a U.S. college or university, or a Kentucky city or county government.
