How to enroll

Starting with the 2026-27 school year, KCSD uses online registration through Infinite Campus for all families. Families with students already enrolled use the Parent Portal (Main Menu > More > OLR). New families start with the online application for new students.

Kindergarten is for children who turn 5 before August 1. Preschool is available for eligible 4-year-olds and for children with disabilities starting at age 3.

  • Find your school with the School Finder using your Carpenter's Trace address.
  • Gather documents: Kentucky immunization certificate, original birth certificate, a copy of your child's Social Security card, proof of residency (such as a utility bill or lease/purchase contract) and prior school records.
  • Health forms: preschool, kindergarten and 6th-grade students need a physical within one year before entry. 11-year-olds need an updated immunization certificate showing Tdap and MenACWY. Dental screening (ages 5 and 6) and eye exam (ages 3–6, first year enrolled) forms are due January 1.
  • Complete the Infinite Campus online registration and upload your documents. For help, contact your school or email [email protected].

Bell times, buses and meals

Elementary schools run 8:50–3:30, Turkey Foot Middle runs 8:00–2:40, and high schools run 7:50–2:30. Every school allows drop-off 30 minutes before the start of the day.

KCSD Transportation provides bus service for students who live in the district. That covers all seventeen district schools, the Ignite Institute and six parochial elementary schools. The district has a School Bus Tracker, and it posts inclement weather and NTI (non-traditional instruction) information on its site.

Under the Community Eligibility Provision, every KCSD student gets one breakfast and one lunch free each school day in 2026-27, with no application needed. The district still asks every household to fill out one Household Income Form. Second meals and à la carte items cost extra and can be paid through My School Bucks.
