Kenton County will officially transition its website to KentonCountyKY.gov beginning Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, strengthening the County's digital presence while making it easier for residents to identify and trust official government information online.

Residents who visit KentonCounty.org after Aug. 1 will automatically be redirected to the new website, ensuring uninterrupted access to County services, programs and information.

The move to a .gov domain aligns Kenton County with national best practices for government websites. Unlike other internet domains, .gov addresses are reserved exclusively for verified government entities in the United States, providing residents with immediate assurance they are visiting an official government website.

"As more government services move online, it's essential residents can quickly identify Kenton County's official website and have confidence in the information they find there," Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann said. "Transitioning to a .gov domain strengthens public trust, enhances security and reflects our ongoing commitment to providing reliable, accessible services to our community."

The transition also enhances the County's cybersecurity efforts. Because .gov domains are available only to verified government agencies, they help reduce the risk of phishing attempts and fraudulent websites impersonating public entities.

The website transition will not affect the availability of County services. Residents will continue to access the same online resources they use today, and existing links to KentonCounty.org will automatically redirect to the new website. However, residents are encouraged to update any saved bookmarks after Aug. 1.

The change will also impact all County email addresses which will transition to “@KentonCountyKY.gov.” Impacted agencies include: all Fiscal Court employees, the Kenton County Clerk’s Office, the Kenton County Sheriff’s Office and Property Valuation Administrator’s Office.
